Year 2 amazing learning

Fire of London Skelton Grange Visit

In November, all the Year 2 classes visited Skelton Grange Environment Centre for a Great Fire of London day.

In the morning, we did different activities. We made paper house for Pudding Lane, ordered events on a timeline and learnt how they tried to fight the fire and used water squirters, and it was really fun. We learnt about the Fire Triangle and how a fire needs oxygen, fuel and heat.

After lunch, we went into the woods where our house had been made into Pudding Lane. Then, they were set on fire and they burned really quickly. After the fire, the people in London had to build shelters to live in so we made our own dens. We then looked at how to make a campfire and practised using flint fire starters. Finally, we made popcorn over the campfire.
